Spending the day with me networking at a VTCT event

VTCT is an awarding body, developing qualifications covering the hair and beauty sector.

I have worked with VTCT since 2009 delivering hair and beauty qualifications through my centre.

As centre management and lead IQA, I was invited along to do some networking at a VTCT event for small centres in London.

After a nightmare TFL journey, I registered at the City Lit centre and took my seat with a black coffee.

Joining my colleagues Kim Ford, Debbie Allen and Amy Burbridge in the naughty corner we listened to Kate from VTCT who run us through the days sessions.

We talked and brainstormed over CPD sessions, funding, events, new qualifications and introduced to our speakers for the day.

Emma Wright talked about her journey from having a clinic and academy to closing down to work on her mentoring program. A great mindfulness session was loved by all!

Dana Dance took us through her career and how she opened up a retail nail company after many years in nails and nail technology.

Hilary Lewis gave us a talk on marketing and the world of finance to use in our business.

Finishing with a lunch session I networked with some others in the industry and staff from VTCT gave us some insights to the future. It was great to be networking at a VTCT event again!

These events are vital for small business and how we can support each other and VTCT support us. There hasn’t been a VTCT event since before the pandemic so it was great to go along and share ideas.

If you’re an academy owner, educator, brand or business in hair and beauty training, take a look on VTCT website to see what you can get involved in!
