The Advantages of Trade Shows

In the hair and beauty industry, there are various trade shows we can attend. Many new to the industry do not know what to expect and may be put off attending, so here’s an insight to the ultimate hair and beauty day out!

As were based in the south, The most popular trade shows for us to attend are:

Professional Beauty London 11-12 October 2020

Olympia Beauty London 4-5 October 2020

Salon International 10-12 October

IMATS Make up Show TBC

There are many more non professional exhibitions and events for you to attend such as Glamour Festival. They are great to attend to keep up with trends latest brands and current events.

Tickets to shows are sometime free or paid for, depending on what’s included.

CPD

Some tickets include entrance to seminars and speaking events. Some shows charge an additional fee for each seminar you attend. These range from £5-£50+. Some shows have CPD events you can attend and participate. Its a great way to take part in a course from a educator you may not be able to usually attend their workshops due to their or your location. Even if you attend a speaking event and take notes, you can use this as CPD as long as you write up how you will use the information going forward in your working practise.

Offers

It is rumoured to bag loads of freebies at trade shows. Its not always the case but you do get exclusive deals. It may be a discount, special offer, free products, competitions, discounted start up kits and much more. Most brands release new products at trade shows for you to see swatches or try out.

What brands are there?

Before you go, many trade shows publish their exhibitor list. This may be on their app or website which you can then see who will be attending. Some exhibitors release what offers will be at trade shows so you can plan what to buy beforehand.

Competitions

Some shows hold competitions. Nailympia is one of the most famous Nail competitions that you can enter to show off your skills. There are now completions in lashes, SMPU and much more.

Exhibiting

If you have a business that sells to the hair and beauty trade it may be worthwhile exhibiting. I’ve exhibited at trade shows before, Professional Beauty and Olympia. They are expensive to exhibit along with staff costs, marketing materials and much more. So you need to ensure you have the return of investment. You can contact each exhibitor directly for prices but they start at around £1000 per stall.

If you have attended a trade show or thinking about attending, let me know your thoughts and experience over on our Student Support Group on Facebook.
