Brief overview:
NVQ in Hairdressing is the ideal starting point for Hairdressing training. Based in Hornchurch Essex, this fast track course enables you to gain a nationally recognised qualification. The course will consist of training two days per week at our training academy, but also home case study work and portfolio building.
Created for the newly trained stylist, our tutors on the NVQ Hairdressing course will guide you before during and after your course and assist you where needed.
Models and students are required to come into the academy for a patch test at least 24 hours before all colouring treatments.

The NVQ Hairdressing course units includes:
- Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
- Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
- Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
- Change hair colour
- Advise and consult with clients
- Style and finish hair
- Set and dress hair
- Cut hair using basic techniques
- Fulfil salon reception duties.

There is no entry requirement and black uniform must be worn at all times.
Missed days training will be invoiced at £150 per day to retake any training or assessments.
1-2-1 NVQ Hairdressing training available at £3,900- days required varies on the students current ability.

What qualifications do I need before starting an NVQ Hairdressing course? You don’t need previous salon experience to begin NVQ Level 2. These levels are designed to introduce you to the foundations of hairdressing, from consultation to cutting and styling. If you already have experience or a Level 2 qualification, you can progress to NVQ Level 3 to develop advanced technical and creative skills.
How is the NVQ Hairdressing course assessed? NVQs are assessed through a combination of practical observations, written tasks, exams and building a portfolio of evidence. You’ll complete real salon services on clients under the guidance of your educator, ensuring you develop both confidence and competence. Your assessor will support you throughout the process so you always know what you’re working towards.
